Politics and Influence

A municipality is a politically managed organisation. Popularly elected members in the municipal council, municipal board and committees decide on municipal operations, finance, municipal boards of directors also headed by politicians.

There are currently six political parties represented in the municipal council which has 41 seats. At the election in 2006, the Social Democrats won 20 mandates in the municipal council, the Centre Party had 8 mandates, the Christian Democrats and the Moderate Party had 5 mandates each, the Left Party had 2 mandates and the Environment Party had one mandate. The Liberal Party was not represented in the municipal council.

The chair of the municipal council is Bo Eddie Rossbol (s). Our municipal commissioner, besides being the chair of the municipal board, is Ann-Marie Fagerström (s).

Each field of activity is then headed by the municipal board or one of the four specialist committees; construction and environmental committee, the technical and recreation committee, the education committee and social welfare committee The specialist committees have an administration that manages the ongoing business based on each field of activity. You will find the members of the various committees in our list of representatives.
